If your idea of a good Saturday involves a boxy 1970s Toyota Crown wagon parked next to a first-generation Miata, the Japanese Classic Car Show is the one to circle. The 21st edition of JCCS lands at Marina Green Park in Long Beach on Saturday, October 3, 2026, and it's easily one of the better entries on any list of things to do in Los Angeles that weekend if you care even a little about cars.

What JCCS is

The show started in 2005 with a narrow focus: Japanese classics, which enthusiasts call kyusha (literally "old car"). Twenty-one years on, it still keeps that focus. Organizers expect close to 500 cars and motorcycles on the grass this year.

The spread runs wide. You'll see untouched survivors with original paint and factory hubcaps. A few rows over, somebody's lowered Datsun 510 sits on period wheels with a rebuilt engine that took three winters to finish. Both belong here, and the show makes no ranking between restoration and modification.

What to expect on the lawn

Toyota, Mazda, Nissan and Honda all show up as sponsors, which usually means manufacturer displays you won't find at a typical cars-and-coffee meetup. Vendor booths cover parts, wheels, apparel and collectibles. There's food on site, so you can stay the whole day without leaving the park.

Tucked inside the main event is the 15th Annual Japanese Classic Motorcycle Show. Expect classic bikes from Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda and Suzuki. If you grew up with a CB750 poster on the wall, give yourself extra time for that section.

It's a family event. Kids 12 and under get in free with a paying adult, and the open lawn gives smaller kids room to move between the cars.

Practical info

  • When: Saturday, October 3, 2026. The organizer lists hours of 9am to 3pm.
  • Where: Marina Green Park, on Shoreline Drive in Long Beach, right along the water near the marina.
  • Tickets: The organizer's listing gives $20 in advance and $25 at the gate, with kids 12 and under free alongside an adult. Check the official JCCS site before you go, since prices can change.
  • Weather: The show runs rain or shine.

Parking near the Long Beach waterfront fills up on event days, so arriving close to the 9am opening is the easy move. The morning light is also better for photos before the crowd thickens around the popular cars. Metro's A Line ends in downtown Long Beach, which makes the train a workable option if you'd rather skip the parking hunt entirely.

Wear comfortable shoes and bring sunscreen. Marina Green is open lawn, and shade gets scarce by midday even in October.

Why it's worth the drive

Most car shows lean heavily on American muscle or modern exotics. JCCS is the rare show where a clean Honda Civic from 1975 draws a bigger crowd than anything with a V8. If you keep a list of upcoming events Los Angeles car people plan around, this one belongs near the top.
