Westwood Village is throwing its second Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 10, and it's taking over Broxton Plaza, the little pedestrian stretch of Broxton Avenue a few blocks south of the UCLA campus. If you're scanning LA events this weekend and want something low-key, outdoors and walkable, this one's worth a look.
What It Is
The party comes from the Westwood Village Improvement Association, the business group that runs programming for the Village's shops and restaurants. Last year was the first run. This year they're calling it the 2nd annual, which usually means the first one went well enough to repeat.
The event flyer spells out the lineup plainly: a beer garden, live music, a fall market, family fun, games and a push to shop local. That's the whole pitch. There's no giant tent or stein-hoisting contest promised, and I'd rather take the organizers at their word than dress it up. Think of it as a neighborhood street party with a German theme and a pretzel on the poster.
What to Expect
The listing runs it from 1pm to 6pm, so it's an afternoon event, not a late night. That timing matters. You can bring kids, grab a beer, wander the market stalls and still make dinner plans somewhere else in Westwood.
A few practical guesses based on what's listed:
- The beer garden is the anchor. Bring ID, since you'll almost certainly be carded.
- Live music is on the bill, though the listing doesn't name any bands yet.
- The fall market and local vendors are a good excuse to poke into Village shops you've walked past a hundred times.
- "Family fun" and games suggest this isn't a 21+ only crowd.
It's a nice change from the bigger ticketed Oktoberfests around town. You don't need a reservation or a timed entry slot to show up.
Price
The flyer says free admission, and the AllEvents listing shows general admission at $0. Beer and food are a separate story, so plan on paying for whatever you drink or eat. We couldn't find posted drink prices, so check the event page closer to the date.
Getting There
The address on the flyer is 1036 Broxton Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90024, right in the middle of the Village near Weyburn and Kinross.
Parking in Westwood on a Saturday is a known headache. There are city and private lots on Broxton and around the Village, plus metered street spots on the side streets. If you're drinking, skip the car. Several Metro and Big Blue Bus lines stop along Wilshire and Westwood Boulevard, a short walk south of the plaza. Rideshare drop-offs work fine on Westwood Boulevard too.
UCLA students can just walk down the hill, which is part of why this spot works.
Plan Your Saturday
If you're building a list of things to do in Los Angeles in October, this pairs well with dinner in the Village or a movie at one of the historic Westwood theaters after 6pm. For more Oktoberfest parties and fall events across the city, browse our festivals category or see what else is on in Los Angeles. There are plenty of Things Happening In Los Angeles this month, but not many with a hand-painted pretzel for a logo.
