Bub and Grandma's

Bub and Grandma's, the Eagle Rock sandwich shop that's earned a devoted following since opening in 2022, turns four this Saturday. The restaurant is marking the milestone with a night party running from 5 to 10 p.m. that's part menu showcase, part block-party vibe.

The evening features the BG Nites menu, a rotating dinner format the kitchen has been refining all year. Expect a patty melt, a chicken de-lite, and a late-season BLT built around whatever's still producing at the end of summer. There's also a kids menu, so families can pull up without worrying about picky eaters. Every table gets a slice of birthday cake, which is about the most direct way a restaurant can say thank you to the people who kept it going for four years.

This is a free event, which is very much in the spirit of the place. Bub and Grandma's built its name on approachable food at reasonable prices, making it one of the better food and drink events in LA to drop into without a reservation or a ticket. Show up, grab a table, eat well.

Eagle Rock Blvd has a small cluster of spots worth walking before or after. The neighborhood stretches along the northeast edge of Los Angeles, close enough to Highland Park and Glassell Park that the evening can extend naturally in either direction.

If you haven't made it to Bub and Grandma's yet, a birthday party is a reasonable occasion to fix that. If you've been going since the beginning, this is theirs and yours.

Getting there: The restaurant is at 4533 Eagle Rock Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90041. Street parking is available along Eagle Rock Blvd. The Metro L Line (Gold) stops at Highland Park Station, about a ten-minute walk away.
