Tuesday is not the obvious day for a food outing, but in downtown Manhattan Beach it is market day. The Manhattan Beach Certified Farmers Market sets up at the Civic Center parking lot and plaza each week, and on October 13 it runs from 11am to 3pm. It is a neighborhood market, not a destination one, which makes it easy to fit around a lunch break or an afternoon off.

What you'll find

Local Anchor, the South Bay community outlet that tracks the area's markets, describes the lineup as premium locally grown produce, sustainably sourced fresh seafood and a rotating group of artisan food vendors. Mid-October is a good time to go. Late summer peppers and tomatoes are hanging on while apples, pears, persimmons and the first citrus start to appear.

Beyond the food, expect community and local business booths that change from week to week, activities for kids and live music. "Certified" means it is a California Certified Farmers Market, so the growers selling produce raised it themselves.

Plan your visit

When: Tuesday, October 13, 2026, 11am to 3pm Where: Civic Center Parking Lot and Plaza, Downtown Manhattan Beach Cost: Entry is not priced in the listing; each vendor sets its own prices, so bring cash or a card.

The Civic Center sits a few blocks up the hill from the pier, so a walk down to the water makes a natural second stop. Parking near downtown fills up around lunchtime. Arrive a little early or use a lot a block or two away. Bring a reusable bag, and a small cooler if seafood is on your list.

More things to do

If you are sorting through things to do in Los Angeles on a weekday, this is one of the easy, low-effort picks in the South Bay. Our food and drink page collects other markets and tastings, and it is a good place to start when you want LA food festivals and seasonal events. Vendors and hours can shift, so check Local Anchor's listing before you head out.
