Disneyland opened in Anaheim in 1955, and the first thing to know now is that a ticket alone won't get you in. Everyone 3 and older also needs a park reservation for the same park on the same date. Reservations are limited and aren't guaranteed for any date, so check the reservation page before you buy or plan around a day. Past that, this page sticks to the older, quieter pieces of the park.

What's Worth Seeing

Sleeping Beauty Castle sits at the far end of Main Street, and you can go inside. The walkthrough is a run of passageways with dioramas that retell the story, and it has no height requirement. It can close for fireworks.

The Disneyland Railroad is a steam train that makes an 18-minute loop around the park, with stations at Main Street, New Orleans Square, Mickey's Toontown and Tomorrowland. It's a handy way to cross the park. Stay on between Tomorrowland and Main Street for Walt Disney's Grand Canyon and Primeval World dioramas.

On Main Street, look up at the firehouse. Walt Disney's apartment is on the second floor. It's still there, and it's closed to the public, so the window is as close as you get.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant has been running since the park opened. The band organ under the circus tent behind it is older still, built in 1915, and there's a replica gondola back there for photos.

For the modern end of things, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opened in 2019 and holds Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

How to Get There

Coming from LA on southbound I-5 or eastbound CA-91, Disney sends you to the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals parking structures. A tram runs from both to the Main Entrance Esplanade between the two parks, or you can walk over the pedestrian bridge on Magic Way. From northbound I-5, westbound CA-91 or CA-22, it's the Toy Story Parking Area, with buses to the same entrance. Attendants may still send you somewhere else. The driving page has the details, and the parking page keeps the rates.

Rideshare drop-off is off southbound Harbor Boulevard, between Manchester Avenue and Disney Way. Without a car, Disney's bus page lists Metro Express Line 460 from downtown LA, with Norwalk Station as the main transfer point. Check Metro for the current schedule.
