Los Angeles is where most American television is made, and a surprising amount of it needs you in the seats. Talk shows, game shows and multi-camera sitcoms tape in front of a live audience in Hollywood, Burbank, Culver City and Universal City almost every week of the season, and the tickets are free.
How it works
Each show hands its audience to an official ticketing service: 1iota for Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Jennifer Hudson Show, On Camera Audiences for The Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, and OS|LA Productions for award shows and seat-filler calls. You request a date, then get a confirmation or a waitlist email. Shows overbook on purpose, so a ticket means priority in line, not a guaranteed seat. Arrive early.
Before you go
Most tapings are 18+ (some allow 14+ or 16+ with a parent), take three to four hours, and need a government-issued photo ID. Phones get locked away, and some shows want business-casual clothes because the audience is on camera.
