Happy's Place Taping: Free Audience Tickets in LA

Reba McEntire's sitcom Happy's Place is taping in front of a live audience in Universal City this fall, and 1iota is handing out the seats for free. There are four taping nights between late September and mid-November. If you've ever wanted to hear a multi-cam laugh track get recorded for real, this is one of the easier things to do in Los Angeles on a weeknight without spending a cent.

The show

Reba plays Bobbie, who has run Happy's Place, a Knoxville tavern, alongside her dad for the past ten years. When he dies, she finds out she's inherited a business partner she never knew about: Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), a half-sister born from an affair her father had some 20 years back. The bar staff start worrying Isabella will want to change things. Bobbie has to figure out whether there's room for this stranger in the business, and in her life.

That's classic studio-audience sitcom territory. Live tapings of shows like this run scenes more than once, so you'll hear the same joke land two or three times and see how small changes in delivery shift the laugh.

Each date is a separate request, so pick the night that works for you. A 5 PM start on a weekday means leaving work early for a lot of people, so plan around traffic into the Valley.
