September evenings in Playa Vista don't get much better than this. Every Monday this month, RUNWAY Playa Vista opens its lawn for Sunset Yoga with Livwell Playa, a free outdoor flow series that wraps up right as the sky shifts colors over the Westside. It's the kind of outdoor event Los Angeles rarely offers for free, and it's well worth showing up for.
The practice runs 50 minutes and is led by instructors from the upcoming Livwell Playa yoga studio. Classes are designed for every experience level, so whether you've been practicing for years or you've never unrolled a mat in public, you'll fit right in. The whole point is to unwind and reset at dusk, which the open-air lawn setting handles pretty naturally on its own.
A few things to know before you go: bring your own yoga mat, since none are provided on-site. Admission is free, but advance registration is required. The series runs Mondays in September, with the next class on September 28 starting at 6:30 p.m.
About the Venue
RUNWAY Playa Vista is a mixed-use lifestyle center in the heart of Playa Vista, the master-planned community on the west side of LA near Marina del Rey. It sits between the beach cities and Culver City, and it's the kind of spot that feels removed from traffic and noise even though it's close to everything. The lawn turf space where yoga takes place is a central gathering area surrounded by restaurants and shops.
Livwell Playa is the yoga studio behind the series. They're in the process of opening a permanent location in Playa Vista, and these Monday classes are both a preview of what they'll offer and a genuine community event.
Getting There
RUNWAY Playa Vista is at 12746 W Jefferson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90094. Parking is available on-site. The area is also accessible via the Metro Expo Line to Culver City Station, with bus connections west. If you're looking for things to do near me on a Monday evening in the Westside, this is a strong option for September.
