Academy LA

Academy LA is a nightclub at 6021 Hollywood Boulevard, and it runs mostly on weekends. The club's own site describes the room as covered in LED panels on the ceiling and walls, with CO2 jets, lighting rigs and lasers firing over the dance floor. That's a lot of hardware for one room, and the club bills itself as one of the largest in Los Angeles.

Friday and Saturday are the main nights. The doors open at 10 PM and the club closes at 3 AM, so plan on a late night. Other nights get added now and then, and those can run on different hours, so check the listing before you head over.

Read the rules before you get dressed, because the dress code is actually enforced. Sandals and flip-flops are out, though open-toed heels pass. Tank tops are out too, and so are jerseys and sports t-shirts. Shorts are only allowed in summer. A DJ's own merch gets a pass, which is handy if you're going to see someone in particular.

You have to be 21, and the staff ask for a physical ID. Show up with the wrong shoes or without it and you may be turned away, so double-check both at home.
