Avalon Hollywood

Avalon Hollywood is one of those buildings you'd walk past on Vine Street and still do a double take. The front is covered in carved ornament, with a big arched window over a black awning where the line forms. The club's site calls it a Hollywood landmark, and some locals still know the place as the Hollywood Palace. Behind that facade is a main room with a stage, LED walls and a center screen, plus a balcony with the sound booth at the back.

Fridays and Saturdays are club nights, and the venue says they're presented by Insomniac Events. Doors open at 10 PM. The site bills the place as a go-to spot for EDM fans, and the production notes list Pioneer CDJ-3000 players and a flown line array, so a DJ's gear is never an afterthought.

The door has a few rules. Club nights are 21 and over, with an occasional special event that lets younger guests in, so read the listing. Everyone needs ID. The dress code is upscale casual: leave the shorts, sandals, tank tops, sports jerseys and baseball hats at home.

Plan your ride in advance. There's no parking lot of its own, but paid lots sit nearby. Party buses need to find a loading spot just north or south of the venue on Vine.
