Banana Bay Restaurant

Banana Bay Restaurant is a Thai restaurant at 18230 Colima Road in Rowland Heights, and it doubles as an unlikely EDM venue once a week. Every Thursday night, starting around 9 PM, a DJ crew called The Illusion Night takes over the dining room for a free, all-ages club night that runs until midnight. The regular restaurant hours are 11 AM to 10:45 PM Sunday through Thursday, running to 12:15 AM on Friday and Saturday.

The building is standard strip-mall Thai: bright lights, laminated menus, and tables arranged for families ordering pad thai and satay. When the DJs set up, a portable speaker system moves into the center aisle and the dance floor clears out the dinner crowd. It is not a purpose-built club. There is no velvet rope, no professional lighting rig, and no separate bar area from the restaurant service. What it does have is free entry, free parking, and a lineup of underground bass and techno acts that would normally cost a cover downtown.

The Illusion Night books four DJ slots per Thursday, each set running about 45 minutes. Recent series included Techno Thursday, Bassland dubstep nights, and Halloween-themed parties with costume contests. Events list as all ages on Eventbrite, though one September flyer mentioned 21+ for a specific booking. Check the individual event page if age matters.

Rowland Heights sits far outside the usual LA nightlife radius. If you drive from the Westside, budget real time on the 60 or the 10, and expect Thursday evening traffic. Colima Road has plenty of surface parking in the surrounding shopping centers, which is part of why this place works as a late-night destination without valet complications. Rideshare is easier if you plan to stay after the restaurant closes.
