Cielo Farms

Cielo Farms is a family-run vineyard and boutique winery at 31424 Mulholland Hwy, up in the Santa Monica Mountains above Malibu. Most of the week it's a wine bar. The main room is The Barn, at the top of the property, and The Terrace is a smaller spot down in the vines that opens when The Barn is closed for a private event. Flights come as four wines, there's cheese and charcuterie every day and pizza from Friday to Sunday, and a visit runs on a reservation with a two to three hour limit and a $35 day pass per party for non-members.

On Cielo Du Sol dates the vineyard turns into a day party. The venue bills the series as acclaimed DJs in an intimate vineyard setting, and the dates run from noon to 10 PM, so you get the vines in daylight and the closing sets after dark. Ticket links sit on the venue's own calendar. The property also runs a live-music series called Cielo Sessions.

The house rules are stricter than a city club's. Everyone must be 21 or older with a valid government-issued photo ID, except on Sundays, when the venue says children may be allowed. No outside food or drink is allowed on the property, and that includes wine. Pets aren't permitted. The vineyard sits in a High Fire Hazard Zone, so smoking or vaping of any kind is banned. Parking is paid: $25 per car Friday through Sunday, $30 on public holidays and special events, and free for Wine Club members.

Wine bar hours are 2 PM to 9 PM on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and noon to 9 PM Friday through Sunday, closed Tuesday, with the last reservation at 7 PM. Hours give way to private events, so on a party day go by the event listing.
