Dodger Stadium

Dodger Stadium is cut into the hillside of Chavez Ravine, between Echo Park and Elysian Park, just north of downtown. The Dodgers opened it in 1962, and the team still calls it a 56,000-seat ballpark. Sit up high and you get the downtown towers to the south and, on a clear night, the San Gabriel Mountains behind you. The team's pages now call it UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium, but everyone in town still just says Dodger Stadium.

It's a baseball park first. Concerts come a few times a year at most, and they're the stadium-sized tours that can fill a whole bowl. The Beatles, Michael Jackson and U2 all played here, and the team's own history page brags about them.

The layout is unusual. Every seating level has its own entrance at ground level, and each section has a parking lot right outside it, so the lot you pick decides which gate you walk through. Parking is the slow part of any night here. For games it's $40 a car if you buy ahead and $45 at the gate, and the gates won't take cash. Check the event page for show-night parking.

If you'd rather skip the lots, the Dodger Express is a free bus from Union Station that uses its own lane on Sunset and drops you behind the pavilions. It's scheduled around baseball, so confirm it's running before a concert.

Pack light. Only small clear bags and little clutches get past security, and anything else goes to the $15 lockers in Lot H or Lot N. Once you're in, you're in, since there's no re-entry. The whole stadium is cashless and smoke-free, vapes included, and tailgating in the lots is banned, so eat inside.
