Glendale Performing Arts Center

The Glendale Performing Arts Center is the auditorium on the Glendale High School campus at 1440 E Broadway, east of the Brand Boulevard shopping blocks. It has 1,559 seats, so it's one of the larger stages in the city, but from the sidewalk it reads as part of a public high school, because that's what it is.

The school rents the hall to qualified outside organizations. Its own page lists lectures, film screenings, video shoots, conferences and live performances among the things the room has hosted. There's no house booker picking acts here. The calendar is whatever renters bring in, so a school recital and a promoter's touring show can land on the same stage a week apart. Don't expect the usual venue extras. The school publishes no box office hours, bag rules or age policy for the hall, and none of that is set by a resident operator. Your ticket comes from the group that rented the room, and that group sets the rules for its night, from doors to whether kids need their own seat. Parking and which gate opens also depend on the event, since the campus runs on a school schedule. Give yourself some slack on a weeknight show and plan to walk a few minutes from wherever you find a spot.
