Gold-Diggers sits on Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, on a stretch of the boulevard that has never been short of bars and has rarely had one like this. The building spent decades as a dive, and the people who took it over kept the bones: a low room, a small stage, warm light, and a disco ball doing most of the decorating.

The whole property is one music operation. Downstairs is the bar and the stage, which the venue puts at 175 people for a show. Upstairs, at 5630 Santa Monica, is a ten-room hotel. Next door, at 5634, is a recording complex with seven studios. Artists can check in, cut a record and play the room in the same week, which is the pitch the place was built on.

Bookings lean industry: album release shows, label nights, DJ sets and surprise gigs by names that do not need the money. The bar calls its own look seedy glamour, and the description holds up once the lights drop and the room fills.

The bar runs 7 pm to 2 am daily, and the calendar lists what is playing. No age policy, bag rule or dress code is posted on the site, so treat the event listing as the source before you go. The room is small enough that a sold-out night feels like a party rather than a concert.
