Nightclub · Silver Lake

3040 W Sunset Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90026

Los Globos is a two-story nightclub at 3040 West Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake, a few blocks from Sunset Junction. The building opened in the 1930s as an American Legion hall, and the club says it later housed one of LA's first openly gay clubs and the first legal rave in the United States. Steve Edelson, the El Cid owner, bought it in 2011 and gave it a makeover, and it has run seven nights a week since, which makes it one of the oldest still-running nightclubs in the city.

There are three rooms on two levels. Each floor has its own stage, the club keeps four full bars and a sizable smoking patio, and the upstairs stage runs 43 feet wide, big enough for national and international acts. The downstairs stage is a JBL and Funktion One rig with lasers and a video wall, and the tech specs are published right on the site, which touring engineers appreciate. The booking leans house, techno, dancehall, reggae and hip-hop, and past guests range from Diplo and Moby to Kode9 and Soul Clap.

Check the event listing for your night, because hours move around: the club's listings have run from 8 PM until 6 AM on weekends, with a license that lets dancing go later than last call. The site mentions nearby parking, and the neighborhood fills up fast on weekend nights, so give yourself time to find a space.
