Out Of The Box LA

The Observatory OC

Music venue · Santa Ana

3503 S Harbor Blvd
Santa Ana, CA 92704

The Observatory OC sits at 3503 S Harbor Boulevard in Santa Ana, just south of LA proper at the intersection of Harbor Blvd and West Lake Center Drive. It opened in 2011 on the site of the former Galaxy Concert Theatre and quickly became a consistent tour stop between Los Angeles and San Diego for rock, hip-hop, electronic and indie acts. The venue claims roughly 25,000 square feet across four distinct spaces. The main stage area holds up to 1,000 people for standing-room shows. A smaller room called the Constellation Room seats around 300 and serves as a launchpad for rising artists before they graduate to bigger stages. There is also a VIP lounge and an Orion Patio.

Parking is limited and sold through the venue's website on show days, so pre-purchasing online before the event is the recommended approach. Unsold spots fill on a first-come basis. The venue does not list exact door times or an age policy on its own website. Those are set per event and posted on the calendar page. The Constellation Room enforces a clear-bag policy with bags no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches. Small clutch bags about the size of a hand are allowed without scanning. Guests and their belongings go through search screening before entering.

The Observatory runs Fast Lane preshow patio parties one hour before doors for select events, which adds food, drinks and games to the experience. The full VIP program includes panoramic balcony views, private seating areas, private restrooms and a dedicated bar. Reservations go through the venue's email contact. The Music Hall carries auditorium-style seating on the mezzanine level alongside standing floor space, giving attendees options that most single-floor venues don't offer.
