The Paramount
Los Angeles, CA 90033
The Paramount is a ballroom on East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue in Boyle Heights, on the Eastside, east of downtown. The venue's own site says it has been running for close to 100 years and calls it the last surviving ballroom venue for mid-sized concerts. The address is 2708 E Cesar E Chavez Ave, on the block between Mott and Saratoga streets.
The room holds 400 people and is general admission, standing room only. The venue has an elevator from the ground floor to its second floor. A full bar and a chef-driven food menu run in the building, and a full-service restaurant on site is open to anyone who wants to eat before a show.
The calendar covers touring bands, indie rock acts and local artists, plus arts performances. Several Los Angeles places share the name Paramount, so look for the Cesar Chavez address on your ticket.
Plan for a few house rules. Most shows are all ages, but 21+ shows are carded at the main entrance. There is no re-entry once you leave, except to the smoking area. Professional cameras need a photo pass. Cash is welcome, and the bars take major cards. Parking is free in a corner lot on Cesar Chavez, with its entrance on Fickett.
