Shrine Expo Hall

Shrine Expo Hall is the big room attached to the Shrine Auditorium at 665 W. Jefferson Blvd, next to USC. The venue describes it as 54,000 square feet of event space that can fit up to 5,000 people. Goldenvoice operates the whole complex, and its site pitches it for award shows, premieres and festivals. Touring concerts play the hall too.

Know which Shrine room is on your ticket. The Auditorium next door is the seated one, with some 6,300 seats and what the venue calls the largest proscenium stage with a freestanding balcony in North America. The Expo Hall isn't described as a seated theatre, so check each show's ticket page for whether it's standing or seated.

Read the prohibited list before you pack, because it's long. Bags can't exceed 14 inches high, 14 wide and 6 deep. Laptops, tablets, coolers, strollers, chairs and blankets stay home. So do glow sticks, light gloves and LED micro lights, along with cameras with detachable lenses, tripods, selfie sticks and recording glasses. Instruments and noise makers don't get in either. Full face paint and masks are banned, since guests have to be recognizable at all times. You can bring an empty plastic water bottle under 32 ounces, but full ones and metal ones are refused.

Everyone has to meet the minimum age on the listing, and age-restricted shows need a valid government-issued photo ID. The Shrine is cashless, so bring a card.

The Metro Expo Line stops at Jefferson/USC, about a 5 minute walk, and the venue encourages ride share. If you drive, the Shrine West Lot is at 715 W. Jefferson Blvd and the North Parking Structure at 714 W. 32nd Street. Advance parking can be bought, and a prepaid spot holds even when a Lot Full sign is up.
