Somewhere Special

Somewhere Special is the rooftop bar of the STILE hotel at 929 South Broadway, in the middle of downtown's historic theater blocks. Take the elevator up and the street noise drops away: planters, low seating and a skyline view that runs from the old office towers toward the hills.

Days and nights here are programmed differently. Afternoons are for laptops, coffee and long conversations in the sun. Later the roof turns into a party room with DJs, drag brunches, Latin day parties, house nights and live music, which is why the calendar changes shape every week and rarely repeats itself twice in a month.

Hours are Thursday 3 pm to 1 am, Friday 2 pm to 2 am, Saturday noon to 2 am and Sunday noon to midnight. The roof is closed Monday through Wednesday. Tables can be reserved, and reservations run on bottle service or a food and drink minimum rather than a ticket, with minimums that climb by party size.

The venue does not publish a capacity, an age policy or a dress code on its site, so check the individual event listing before you plan a night. The building also holds The United Theater on Broadway, which means a rooftop drink and a show downstairs can be the same evening.
