The Spotlight

Nightclub · Hollywood

1601 N Cahuenga Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90028

The Spotlight sits on North Cahuenga Boulevard in Hollywood, next door to the Dream Hotel, in a stretch that has been the neighborhood's club row for decades. The room is run by Framework, the group behind Sound a few blocks away, and it holds 300 people. That puts it in the intimate range for Hollywood: close enough that a DJ can read the floor without looking at a screen, small enough that a name booking feels like a surprise rather than a production.

Inside, the room is dressed in low gold light and heavy curtains, with a lounge up front and the dance floor behind it. The whole space runs to 5,000 square feet including a garden and a restaurant, and the venue rents the parts separately or together for up to 400 people on private nights. Framework books across genres, so a week can move from house and techno to a live band, and the calendar leans late: most nights run 10 PM to 2 or 2:30 AM.

Dress is upscale trendy and the door enforces it. Sweats, joggers, tank tops, gym shirts, running shoes, hoodies, ripped jeans and hats are all out, and the doorman has the final say on admission. Parking is the weak point. The venue asks guests to avoid Cahuenga and Selma, approach on Wilcox Avenue, and use the lots on Wilcox between Hollywood and Selma. A rideshare drop at Wilcox and Selma, by Desert 5 Spot, saves a block of sitting traffic.
