The Vermont Hollywood

The Vermont Hollywood is a newer live room at 1020 N. Vermont Ave, set inside 13,000 square feet that the venue's site describes as multipurpose. You'll notice the Art Deco marquee tower out front before anything else. Past the door there are LED-lined walls that can be programmed show by show, so a night can change its look between sets. There's also a VIP mezzanine, plus an open-air patio for a breather away from the speakers.

The room books bands and touring acts as well as DJ nights and club events. The stage is 28 feet wide and 20 feet deep, built from removable panels, so each act can set it up its own way. It also has two DJ risers built in, each three feet by six, so a booth can sit on the same deck as the speakers. Backstage there are two green rooms and a hydraulic floor lift for loading gear in. The tech sheet lists a DigiCo console at front of house and a main PA built around L-Acoustics K3 boxes and six KS28 subs. Those subs are the part you'll feel in your chest.

Check the age limit before you buy a ticket, because each event sets its own. If a show is 18+ or 21+, bring a physical government ID. Photos of IDs on your phone don't count. Bags smaller than 12 inches by 12 inches get in. The dress code is mostly relaxed, but shoes are required at all times, with no open-toed shoes like flip-flops, no sleepwear and nothing offensive on your clothes.

Getting home late is simpler here than at most clubs. Valet parking sits right out front at every event, and the Metro station at Vermont and Santa Monica is directly across the street.
