Zipper Concert Hall

Los Angeles, CA 90012
Zipper Concert Hall is the main recital room inside the Colburn School, on Grand Avenue at Second Street in downtown Los Angeles. The building faces The Broad and sits diagonally across from Walt Disney Concert Hall, which makes this block one of the densest clusters of music in the city.
The hall seats 430 people, 56 of them in the balcony, with a stage of roughly 1,100 square feet measuring 48 feet wide by 23 deep. It is built for acoustic music: chamber groups, piano recitals, new-music programs, student and faculty performances, dance, and the occasional film screening. The classical calendar is the core of it, and outside presenters rent the room for recordings and one-off concerts, which is why the listings can look different from week to week.
Enter through the doors at 200 South Grand or through Colburn Plaza, whose entrances are on Second Street between Olive and Grand, and on Grand between Second and Third. Campus parking is reserved, so use the Disney Hall garage on Second Street or Lower Grand; it charges a flat $10 after 4:30 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends. Metro's B and D lines stop at Civic Center/Grand Park and the A and E lines at Grand Avenue Arts/Bunker Hill, both within two blocks.
